My engine light has been on, along with the Engine Systems Fault display for about two weeks now. Took it to the garage last week as kept getting a spluttering, almost misfire when driving at around 50mph. They plugged it in and it was a DPF issue and they advised to take it for a long hard drive.

Injectors, Pump etc etc etc You just need the code (s) reading. You dont need to open the bonnet to read them. OBD reader port is in the car.
Therefore, if the affected application is fitted with an EGR system, be sure to scan specifically for active and pending EGR system trouble codes as well Failed or failing PCM, but note that since this a rare event, the fault must be sought elsewhere before any control module is reprogrammed or replaced
whilst i acknowledge that some of the fiesta 1.6 diesels have problems some do last well. my fiesta 1.6tdci (2007 year with the twin cam 16valve engine) was in my ownership from 1,600 miles to 146k miles. only problems I had were blocked fuel filter causing low fuel pressure fault, but it had been on there for 120k without being changed. and three of the injectors starting to leak around the
